History Of Glen Forest

PDF Print E-mail

Glen Forest Memorial Park was conceived as an upmarket cemetery, to be developed using a picturesque site in the Mazowe Valley area. The hills, streams and surrounding views lend themselves well to this concept.

Design work was completed in 2001 and a public funding document placed with specific invited investors in late 2002. With the upheavals that were then prevalent in the Zimbabwean economy the project funding took a further two years to raise and problems were experienced in sourcing materials in time to utilise funding before it lost its value. For this reason the project was frozen in 2004, pending stabilisation of the economy and attracting further investors.

In early 2008 a purchaser for the project was found and an agreement was concluded later that year.

The project has now been re launched and will now fulfil the design objectives of the original project. Development will include 100,000 burial sites, recreational areas, areas of contemplation, memorial walls, reception and funeral areas, administration buildings and walled and guarded perimeter.

Initial interest in the project has rekindled and enquiries are being received daily.

It is best to plan ahead wherever possible. This means letting your family and friends know what you want at the time of bereavement. Preplanning includes making sure a will is in place and pre-purchasing units ahead of the event. This ensures that your desires will be carried out and lessens the stress at an already emotional time.

The Zimbabwe Funeral Company website has an online secure facility to purchase individual units or in bulk. This transaction can be a once off purchase or instalment terms. A Burial Rights Certificate , which entitles the owner to a grave will be issued upon the completion of purchase. You can read more about this facility by clicking the ‘Buy Online’ link on your left.

We are here to serve you with the values we hold dear: dignity, transparency, understanding, privacy and honouring the legacy left by those who have passed away.
